January is a time when a lot of people make New Year’s resolutions related to health and fitness plans.
Cycling is a great way to get more active and has a whole range of physical and mental benefits.
But riding on the road can be scary if you’ve never done it before especially in traffic. Most people think that cycling is something that you just do. Probably learned as a child and not given any more thought.
But cycling is a skill that can be taught and learned. Read this to see how cycle coaching has helped me be safer and more confident on the roads. So if you or someone you know is thinking of taking up cycling this year, why not book in for some coaching.
Riding in Traffic: If you lack confidence riding on the road or in traffic then booking for a session to learn some simple strategies to keep yourself safe on the road. We cover riding position, dealing with junctions, identifying hazards and defensive cycling. We believe that even experienced cyclists would benefit from a session to raise their awareness of their current cycling style and how to manage and reduce the risks of busy traffic. Lessons: £40 for 90 minutes.
Getting Started: If you’re new to cycling then this session covers all the things you need to know to get started. Including simple bike safety, equipment and getting set up so that you’re comfortable, using the gears, corners and safe stopping, signalling and riding on very quiet roads. Lessons: £30 for 60 minutes.
Learn to Ride: I specialise in teaching adults how to pedal for the first time. This is a life changing skill that is great fun and open’s up opportunities for fitness, transport, freedom and fun. Lots of people think they lack the balance to learn and this is simply not true. Anyone can learn to ride a bike at any age with the right teaching and support. I teach a wide range of people (from 16 to 76yrs old) who never had the chance to learn to ride as a child. Lessons: £30 for 60 minutes.
