The book is written by Dr Richard Freeman, who was the sports medicine doctor with British Cycling and Team Sky until 2017. He describes lots of the innovative methods he helped to develop as well as talking about case studies of athletes he helped.
I’m really quite short sighted. I can’t see to tie my shoelaces and I don’t get on with contact lenses. Doing any water sports can be a bit of a challenge. Back in the day when I first started triathlon, I’d never heard of prescription goggles, and I never came across anyone with the same vision problem that I had or they were wearing contact lenses. Triathlon and open water swimming was only just beginning as a mass participation sport so they were probably not something you got on the high street.
Many cyclists feel intimidated by hills especially when starting out when cycling legs haven’t been developed yet. But even if you’re not new to cycling hills can still be difficult to manage and how you feel about them can affect how you feel about your cycling. Being scared and intimidated by hills can ruin your enjoyment of cycling.

So you’ve finally decided you have the courage to do an Ironman and now you need to choose a race. If it’s your first or your 10th long distance race then it’s well worth spending a bit of time choosing the right race for you.
